A procedure in which a radioisotope is administered IV and its distribution monitored with a gamma camera. Brain scintigraphy informs on the adequacy of blood flow to the cerebral cortex, and detects abnormalities in the brain before they can be detected by CT or MR scans.Indications
Evaluation of strokes, transient ischaemic attacks, seizure activity, organic brain disease, tumours (especially if combined with SPECT).
