Branchiata

a superclass of animals of the subphylum Arthropoda; it comprises the one class Crustacea. The head of the Branchiata has five pairs of appendages. Breathing is done with the aid of gills —appendages to the thoracic or abdominal limbs —less frequently with the whole body surface. The excretory organs are modified coelomoducts. The Branchiata are predominantly aquatic animals.
