Argentine Basin

a bottom depression in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean between the continental slope of South America, the South Atlantic Ridge, the Rio Grande Plateau, and the northern part of the South Antilles Ridge. It reaches a depth of 5,919 m; in a narrow trough in the south, it reaches 6,213 m. The bottom is globigerine silt and red clay.
