Davtak Kertog
Davtak Kertog
Dates of birth and death unknown. Seventh-century Armenian lyrical poet.
There are indications in the History of Agvan, the work of the 10th-century historian Movses Kagankatvatsi, that Dav-tak Kertog was court poet to the Agvan Prince Juanshiri (630–670). Davtak’s elegy Lament for the Death of Great Prince Juanshiri was written in Armenian verse meter in alphabetical order. (The elegy was included in the History of Agvan by Kagankatvatsi.) The style of this work attests to Davtak’s familiarity with Greek art.
