a lake in the northeastern Karelian ASSR. Engozero has an area of 122 sq km, an average depth of 4.5 m, and a maximum depth of 18 m. It is elongated in a west-east direction. Engozero is fed by snow and rain. The water level varies by 0.9 m, with the highest level in June and the lowest in September. The lake freezes over in late October or November, and the ice breaks up in May. The Kalga and Von’ga rivers flow out of Engozero and empty into the White Sea.
