Fath Ali Khan

 

Born 1736; died 1789. Ruler of the Kuba Khanate from 1758.

Having conquered the Derbent, Baku, and Shirvan khanates and other areas, Fath Ali Khan united around Kuba all the Azerbaijani lands along the Caspian Sea as far south as Ardebil. He favored rapprochement with Russia. After his death, the state he had formed disintegrated.
