Fedor Luzhin
Luzhin, Fedor Fedorovich
Date of birth unknown; died in 1727. Russian geodesist and cartographer.
Luzhin studied at the School of Mathematical and Navigational Sciences in Moscow and in the geodetic class of the Naval Academy in St. Petersburg (until 1718). Between 1719 and 1721, Luzhin, together with I. M. Evreinov, participated in the mapping of Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands. In 1723-24, Luzhin conducted surveys in Eastern Siberia, and in 1725-27 he took part in V. Bering’s first Kamchatka expedition.
