A developmental punctate lens opacity (OMIM:613020), which is common in the lenticular cortex and present in most lenses. The cataract is white or cerulean; it increases in number with age, but rarely affects vision. 
Molecular pathology
Defects in EPHA2, which encodes a protein thought to regulate lens fibre cells shape and interactions (and thought to be important for lens transparency development and maintenance), cause cataract (cortical) age-related type 2.
