Electrostatic Welding

a welding method in which a powerful short-duration current pulse produced by a battery of static capacitors is used to heat the articles being joined. There are several types of electrostatic welding, including resistance welding (spot, seam, and butt joints) and percussion (butt) welding. Electrostatic welding is particularly efficient for joining small parts and thin metal sheets, for example, in manufacturing parts for electron tubes, small instruments and apparatus, metal toys, and haberdashery articles.
