Aganbegian, Abel Gezevich

 

Born Nov. 8, 1932, in Tbilisi. Soviet economist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1964. Member of the CPSU since 1956.

Aganbegian was graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Economics in 1955. From 1955 to 1961 he worked for the State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on problems of labor and wages. In 1961 he became the chief of the laboratory of the Institute of Economics and Organization of Industrial Production of the Siberian Section of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR; he was named its director in 1966. Aganbegian’s scientific activity was concerned with problems of labor productivity, wages, and the standard of living and with developing models for optimal future planning. He participated in international economic conferences.
