Special Features:The first English settlement in North America was attempted here(1585-1587). The fate of Sir Walter Raleigh's "Lost Colony" remains amystery. Site also preserves the cultural heritage of the NativeAmericans,European Americans and African Americans who have lived on RoanokeIsland.
