beta-lipotropin

beta-lipotropin

A 91-residue precursor peptide derived from the carboxy-terminal portion of pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC), the precursor molecule for corticotropin-related peptides—e.g., ACTH, MSH, and others, which are generated by alternative slicing. Beta-lipotropin has sequence homology to endorphins and enkephalins.
