Location:At the tip of the Bruce Peninsula, accessible from the south along Highway 6 (four hours from Toronto) or from the north via Ontario Northland Ferry M.S. Chi-Cheemaun, which operates during the spring, summer, and fall.
Facilities:Visitor center, diver registration center, and public facilities (on Flowerpot Island only) including docks, picnic shelter, hiking trails, and 6 campsites.
Activities:Scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, hiking, bird watching, glass-bottom boat tours to Flowerpot Island (spring-fall), dive charters, interpretive programs (June-September).
Special Features:Canada's first national marine park protects 22 islands at the mouth of Georgian Bay and a main ecosystem that extends from the surface water down 200 meters. The remains of 22 known sail and steam vessels from the mid-19th to the early 20th century lie within the park boundaries and may be viewed by diving or from one of the glass-bottom tours boats operating out of Tobermory. Flowerpot Island and the picturesque rock formations from which it derived its name are among Canada's most recognized and most popular natural attractions.
