Break in Service Break in ServiceA situation in which an employee temporarily ceases to be an employee. For example, an employee may find another job but then come back to the original workplace. Alternatively, he/she may be fired and then re-hired. In general, this does not negatively impact the employee's pension or other benefits provided the break in service was not longer than an agreed-upon period of time. |
