Averichkin, Fedor Stepanovich
Born May 15 (27), 1889; died Sept. 20, 1933. Active participant in the October Revolution and the Civil War. Member of the CPSU from 1917.
Born into the family of a railroad conductor, Averichkin studied in a Realschule and then worked on the railroad. In 1911 he was drafted into the navy, where he served as a seaman and noncommissioned officer for mining operations. After the February Revolution of 1917, Averichkin was a member of the Helsingfors Soviet for the runner vessel Krechet; subsequently, he served on the Oblast Committee of the Army, Navy, and Workers of Finland. During July-October 1917 he was member, chairman, and secretary of the Central Committee of the Baltic Fleet. He participated in the liquidation of the Kornilovtsy. As a member of the leadership troika of the navy during the October armed uprising, Averichkin participated in the creation of the Caspian military flotilla. In later years he occupied responsible positions in the navy.
