catfish stingA toxic, allergic reaction caused by exposure to the venom contained in venomous glands at the base of catfish fins. The stung part should be immediately immersed in water as hot as the patient can stand for 1 hr or until the pain is controlled. Tetanus prophylaxis should be administered if needed. See also: sting |
