(also Eurasian race), one of the major races of mankind. The Europeoid race is distributed throughout Europe, North Africa, the Near East, and northern India, as well as in regions of European colonization (America, Australia, and South Africa). Members are characterized by light or swarthy skin; soft straight or.wavy hair; strong development of the tertiary hair cover; a narrow, strongly projecting nose with a high bridge; thin lips; and orthognathism. The pigmentation of the eyes and hair among members of the Europeoid race varies widely.
