an individual in a POPULATION that is involved in transferring its genes to the next generation via the process of SEXUAL REPRODUCTION. Thus a population will have two components: breeding individuals and those not breeding (i.e.immature juveniles, and mature individuals that have undergone GENETIC DEATH).
