Ersatz style Ersatz styleA German word meaning “substitute” or “replacement,” used by architectural critic Charles Jencks to describe architecture (1973–1975) with forms that are borrowed indiscriminately from various sources. This is partly the result of modern technology, which is capable of producing architecture in any style. It can also be considered as any “pastiche” that captures the essence of the original design. |
