释义 | Bremer, Edith TerryBremer, Edith Terry(1885–1964) social reformer; born in Hamilton, N.Y. Educated at the University of Chicago (1907), she pioneered immigrant social service work. She gained prominence as founder (1910) and leader of the International Institute movement, which worked to improve the lives of female immigrants. She directed the YWCA Department of Immigration and Foreign Communities (c. 1920–32) and founded the National Institute of Immigrant Welfare (1933–54). |
