Cato Maximilian Guldberg
Guldberg, Cato Maximilian
Born Aug. 11, 1836, in Christiania; died Jan. 14, 1902, in Oslo. Norwegian mathematician and physical chemist.
Beginning in 1869, Guldberg was a professor of applied mathematics at the university in Christiania (now Oslo). Together with P. Waage (1864–67), Guldberg discovered the law of mass action. In 1870 he proposed the principle of dynamic equilibrium for the special case of the dependence of solubility on pressure.
