Dmitrii Dmitrievich Blagoi
Blagoi, Dmitrii Dmitrievich
Born Jan. 28 (Feb. 9), 1893, in Moscow. Soviet literary scholar. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1953); member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the RSFSR (1947; since 1967, member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR). Professor at Moscow State University (since 1943).
Blagoi’s principal works are devoted to the study of the life and works of A. S. Pushkin. The monographs The Creative Development of Pushkin (1813–1826) (1950; State Prize of the USSR, 1951) and The Creative Development of Pushkin (1826–1830) (1967) were the result of many years of research. He is the author of numerous works on the history of Russian literature of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries (Derzhavin, Tiutchev, Blok, Sholokhov, and others). Blagoi has been awarded three orders as well as medals.
