Faddeev, Dmitrii Konstantinovich

 

Born June 17 (30), 1907, in the city of Iukhnov, in what is now Kaluga Oblast. Soviet mathematician. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1964).

Faddeev graduated from Leningrad University in 1928 and was made a professor at the university in 1944. In 1940 he became affiliated with the Leningrad Division of the V. A. Steklov Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Faddeev’s principal works deal with number theory, algebra, the theory of homology groups, and computer mathematics. He has been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and various medals.
