Kukin, Dmitrii Mikhailovich
Born May 10 (23), 1908, in the village of Zarech’e, NovosiP Raion, Orel Oblast. Soviet historian. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1964). Member of the CPSU (1929).
From 1926 to 1928, Kukin was engaged in Komsomol activities. From 1928 to 1929 he was a worker at the Krasnyi Aksai plant in Rostov-on-Don. Kukin studied at the Krasnodar Pedagogical Institute and at Moscow State University. In 1936 he completed his graduate studies at the Academy of Sciences of the Byelorussian SSR. Between 1938 and 1954 he was instructor, head of the department of history of the, CPSU, and assistant director at the Lenin Military Political Academy. Between 1954 and 1962 he held important positions in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the CPSU. From 1962 to 1973, Kukin was assistant director of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism under the Central Committee of the CPSU. In 1973 he was appointed a professor at the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee. He has written works dealing with the history of the CPSU. He has been awarded seven orders and a number of medals.
