Diadochoi

Alexander of Macedonia’s generals, who contended for supreme power after his death in 323 B.C. The Diadochoi included Perdiccas, Antipater, Craterus, Eumenes, Polyperchont, Cassander, Antigonus I Cyclops (founder of the family of the Antigonids), Demitrius I Poliorcetes, Lysimachus, Seleucus I Nicator (founder of the Seleucids), and Ptolemy I Soter (founder of the Ptolemies). As a result of their struggle, Alexander’s empire disintegrated and a number of Hellenistic states were formed, each headed by one of the Diadochoi.
