Economic Commission for Western Asia
(ECWA), a regional body established in 1973 by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The members of the ECWA are 13 Arab entities in Asia.
The purposes of the ECWA include the study of problems of the economic and social development of the countries in the region. The commission makes recommendations to its members, prepares surveys and studies, and disseminates the surveys and studies among its members.
The highest organ of the ECWA is the plenary session, which, as a rule, is held once a year. The executive organ is the Secretariat.
