Atay, Falih Rifki

 

Born 1894 in Istanbul. Turkish writer and journalist.

Atay graduated from the University of Istanbul in 1912. In 1918 he became one of the publishers of the newspaper Akşam, and in 1952 he began to publish the newspaper Dünya. Since 1922 he has often been elected a deputy to the National Assembly. Atay is a master of travel sketches and memoirs. His trip to Russia is the subject of his books The New Russia (1931) and Moscow-Rome (1932).
