a framework (Japanese in origin) for imparting PRODUCTION efficiency: Seiketsu Standardize. The intent being to standardize work so that consistent work will lead to consistent performance. Seiri Removal. The intent being to remove unwanted items from the workplace, for example tools or materials or plans that are not needed for the present task. Seiso Keeping clean. Keeping the work place clean and tidy. Seiton Organizing. That is, organising materials, tools etc so that the user will know where they are and time will not be wasted looking for them. Shitsuke Keeping to the rules. Underpinning the idea that organizations (and society) operate better through cooperation and teamwork. See LEAN MANUFACTURING.
