ELF1

ELF1

A gene on chromosome 13q13 that encodes an E26 transformation-specific transcription factor, which is primarily expressed in lymphoid cells and, depending on the context, up- or downregulates transcription of various genes. ELF1 activates LYN and BLK promoters, and it may be required for the T-cell-receptor-mediated trans activation of HIV-2 gene expression. It is also a less preferred gene symbol for what is now designated as EFNA2, see there.
