actinic achromatism actinic achromatism[‚ak′tin·ik ‚ā′krōm·ə‚tiz·əm] (optics) The design of a photographic lens system so that light sources at the wavelength of the Fraunhofer D line near 589 nanometers and the G line at 430.8 nanometers are focused at the same point and produce images of the same size. The design of an astronomical lens system so that light sources at the wavelength of the Fraunhofer F line at 486.1 nanometers and the G line at 430.8 nanometers are focused at the same point and produce images of the same size. Also known as FG achromatism. |
