Elgi
El’gi
a river in the Yakut ASSR, a left tributary of the Indigirka River. The El’gi is 394 km long and drains an area of 68,200 sq km. It is formed by the confluence of the Degdega and Kao rivers, and it flows along the El’gi Plateau. The El’gi is fed by rain and snow. Freshets occur between June and mid-September. The mean flow rate 42 km from the mouth is 106 cu m per sec. The El’gi freezes over in October, and the ice breaks up in late May or early June.
