Erythrasma
Erythrasma a keratomycosis caused by parasitic fungi of the genus Microsporum; according to other data, it is caused by corynebacteria of the genus Corynebacterium. Erythrasma, principally a disease of adult males, produces lesions of only the horny layer of the epidermis in the inguinal and scrotal folds and, less commonly, in the intergluteal fold, in the armpits, and under the breasts. The distinct pinkish brown spots have branlike scaling on the surface. In treating erythrasma, iodine, nitrofungin, or erythromycin ointment is applied to the affected areas, and salicyl spirit is rubbed on. erythrasma
