Crommelin's comet

(kroh -mĕ-linz) An inconspicuous comet with a period of 27.7 years, first observed in 1818. Its apparition in March 1984 was observed internationally: the results were used to test techniques to be used in the observation of Halley's comet, perihelion Feb. 1986, the observing conditions for the two comets being very similar.
