Class Hour

(1) The amount of time, lasting from 45 to 50 minutes, that elapses during a single classroom period in an educational institution.

(2) The amount of material to be studied during a class hour. Curricula and programs of study in educational institutions are planned in terms of class hours. Class hours are also the units used in planning a course’s subject matter, in keeping records of work that has been completed, and in appraising the work of some categories of teachers.
