Dobrzyn Brothers

Dobrzyń Brothers

a Catholic knightly order in medieval Poland, created in 1228. It took its name from Dobrzyn Land, which was obtained by the Teutonic Order in 1228 from the Mazovian prince Conrad in return for a commitment to defend Mazovia from Prussian attacks. In 1235 the order of the Dobrzyn Brothers was absorbed by the Teutonic Order. The dispute over Dobrzyn Land between the Teutonic Order and the Mazovian princes developed into a long conflict that was finally resolved in favor of Poland at the battle of Grunwald in 1410.
