Class Ranks

 

in the USSR, special ranks awarded to employees in the various bodies of the Procurator’s Office. The statute on class ranks of employees in the Procurator’s Office of the USSR was adopted by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on Oct. 28, 1980 (Vedomosti Verkhovnogo Soveta SSSR, 1980, no. 45, art. 950). The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR confers the ranks of state councillor of justice and state councillor of justice classes I, II, and III. The other ranks—including councillor of justice and junior councillor of justice—are awarded by the procurator-general of the USSR. Members of the Procurator’s Office who hold class ranks must wear uniforms with identifying insignia during the performance of their official duties.
