Clausen, Wendell

Clausen, Wendell (Vernon)

(1923– ) classicist; born in Coquille, Ore. He was educated at the University of Washington (B.A. 1945) and the University of Chicago (1948) and taught at Harvard (1959). He was perhaps the most respected American textual critic of his generation of classicists, known for his Appendix Vergiliana (1966) and Persi et Iuvenalis Saturae (1959).
