Deasy's Act

Deasy's Act

the Landlord and Tenant Law Amendment (Ireland) Act 1860, commonly known as Deasy's Act as it was Sergeant Deasy, the then Attorney General for Ireland, who piloted it through Parliament. The Act is the basis of the law of landlord and tenant in both parts of Ireland. It is largely a consolidating Act, but it introduced the notion of contract as the basis of the relationship of landlord and tenant in Ireland.
