释义 | Elkins, Stanley M.Elkins, Stanley M. (Maurice)(1925– ) historian; born in Cambridge, Mass. Educated at Harvard (A.B. 1949) and Columbia (Ph.D. 1958) Universities, Elkins taught at the University of Chicago (1955–60) and at Smith College (1960–68; Syndenham Clark Parsons Professor of History Emeritus, 1968). Prominent among the students of Columbia's Richard Hofstadter and a leading authority on African-American history, his many publications include Slavery: A Problem in American Institutional and Intellectual Life (1959) and The Age of Federalism (with Eric McKitrick) (1993). |
