CD57

CD57

a membrane protein present on natural killer cells, some T cells, a few B cells, and monocytes of unknown function; expressed in large granular lymphocyte leukemias.

CD57

A glucuronyltransferase encoded by B3GAT1 on chromosome 11q25 which is involved in the biosynthesis of the L2/HNK-1 carbohydrate epitope on glycoproteins, and which also plays a role in glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis.
Normal expression
NK cells, oligodendrocytes, Schwann cells, gastric chief cells, gut chromaffin cells, pancreatic islets, renal proximal tubules and loop of Henle, prostatic epithelium, adrenal medulla, epithelial cells of outer thymic cortex, and some fetal bronchial cells.

CD57

A cell surface antigen expressed on many natural killer cells. See: cluster of differentiation
