A gene on chromosome 18q22.1 that encodes cadherin 19, a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein which preferentially interacts with itself in a homophilic manner and is thought to contribute to cell sorting. This is also a less preferred gene symbol for what is now designated as DCHS1, see there.
