A gene on chromosome Xp11 that encodes a member of the cdc2/cdkx subfamily of the serine/threonineprotein kinases, which is thought to play a role in signal-transduction cascades in terminally differentiated cells, in exocytosis and in transporting secretory cargo from the endoplasmic reticulum.
