Aurora kinase C
Aurora kinase C
An Aurora kinase encoded by AURKC on chromosome 19q13.43, which is involved in regulating many mitotic events. Aurora C is the serine/threonine-protein kinase component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), which is critical for the correct progression through and completion of mitosis. It has redundant cellular functions with AURKB; both phosphorylate histone H3. AURKC also phosphorylates TACC1, another protein involved in cell division.Molecular pathology
Defects in AURKC cause spermatogenic failure type 5.
