释义 | Brooks, NoahBrooks, Noah(1830–1903) journalist; born in Castine, Maine. Journeying west as a young man, he cofounded a California paper, The Daily Appeal (1860); later, as Washington correspondent of the Sacramento Union, he was a close adviser to President Abraham Lincoln. Subsequently he was editor of the New York Tribune and New York Times (1871–84). Brooks is also known as the author of two of the earliest boys' novels about baseball, The Fairport Nine (1880), and Our Base Ball Club (1884). |
