Dubossary

a city (since 1951), the administrative center of Dubossary Raion, Moldavian SSR. Located on the Dnestr River 50 km northeast of Kishinev. Population, 17,000 (1970). The Dubossary Hydroelectric Power Plant is located there, as are a reinforced-concrete products plant, a tobacco-curing factory, a creamery, a concentrated-feed mill, and a beer and nonalcoholic drink producer. Dubossary also has an experimental sovkhoz factory and a clothing factory. There is a museum of revolutionary struggle and labor glory.
