Brophy's operation Brophy's operation An obsolete surgical procedure, named after American oral surgeon Truman William Brophy (1848–1928), for correcting a cleft hard palate, which consisted of using wire compression sutures to span the tissue gap; the newer techniqes for repair of the hard palate emphasise lengthening or retrodisplacement of levator muscles of the soft palate by local soft tissue flaps. |
