Broselow system

Broselow system

A proprietary system designed to facilitate rapid selection of correct-sized equipment for intubating children, which is based on their length (height) and divided into colour-co-ordinated groups. First the child's length is measured and one of seven areas is assigned, then a co-ordinated Colour Pack is pulled from the Broselow/ Hinkle system to begin a procedure with the right sized equipment. The system offers eight colour-coded sections for children weighing from 3–34 kgs; in older children, the system underestimates body weight.
