Brovary

a city (settlement until 1956), administrative center of Brovary Raion, Kiev Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Located on the Kiev-Leningrad highway, 20 km northeast of Kiev. It has a railroad station on the Kiev-Moscow line. Population, 33,000 (1969). The city has plants for producing refrigerators, nonstandard municipal equipment, and machines used in trade. It also has powder metallurgy and plastics plants, a construction combine, and enterprises of the food industry, including a dairy plant.
