Congenital Malignancy

Neoplasia that appears at or shortly after birth; as spontaneous remission is not uncommon in these tumours, some may represent hyperplastic reactive proliferations with a monotonous appearance that simulates malignancy
Examples Congenital leukemia—often aggressive and fatal; sarcoma—histologically malignant, often clinically benign—melanoma, possibly transplacental, neuroblastoma
