Crown Office 1 in England, formerly the office that dealt with Crown and ministerial business for the Court of King's Bench. It is now part of the Central Office of the Supreme Court. It has recently been renamed the Administrative Court. 2 in Scotland, a department under the authority of the Lord Advocate that organizes the prosecution of crime, not only by assisting the Lord Advocate, Solicitor-General and advocates depute but also by administering and supporting the Procurator Fiscal's service. The senior official is called the Crown Agent. A Civil ‘Recovery Unit operates within the Crown Office and utilizes civil procedures to obtain criminal assets, fulfilling broadly the same function as the Assets Recovery Agency in England and Wales. |
